It’s a short week for the Houston Texans, who will have to name a starting quarterback for Thursday’s matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on the road after Sunday's 29-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars at home.

Head coach Bill O’Brien only have two quarterbacks to choose from in Tom Savage and Deshaun Watson, and while there’s no official announcement yet from the Texans’ camp, NFL.com’s Marc Sessler is reporting that reliable sources have told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's James Palmer that Watson has already been selected by the team to be under center for the Bengals contest.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's James Palmer reported Tuesday that rookie Deshaun Watson has earned the nod over veteran Tom Savage, per sources. The game will be aired exclusively on NFL Network.

The news won’t blow many people away, considering the mess Savage wreaked in Week 1's game in which he completed just 7 of 13 passes for 62 yards. Having seen enough, O’Brien sent the rookie Watson to the game, sparking the Texans’ lone touchdown drive for Houston, though he also gave up an interception.

With the quarterback quandary out of the way, the Texans should be able to focus more on repairing their ghastly offensive line that provided little protection to Savage and Watson — both absorbing a combined 10 sacks for a loss of 54 yards from the Jags.
