The Philadelphia Eagles and Miles Sanders are somehow alive in the NFC East. After a 23-17 overtime win on Monday night against the New York Giants, Philadelphia has a chance to host a playoff game. As embarrassing as it is, it's true. They have three games left against divisional opponents. First it is the Washington Redskins.

This is a dangerous game for the Eagles. The Redskins are 3-10 on the season but they have been playing better football over the last three weeks. They are 2-1 with the loss coming in Lambeau Field 20-15 against the Green Bay Packers. Washington is starting to play strong defense and there is not much to defend on the Eagles at the moment.

Jordan Howard and Nelson Agholor were inactive in Week 14. Alshon Jeffrey left the game against the Giants and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. J.J. Arcega Whiteside was also injured and forced to leave Monday night's game. What does this mean for the Eagles against the Redskins? They need to utilize their rookie Miles Sanders.

Sanders is the Only Eagle Left

Even Sanders was forced to leave against the Giants. Fortunately, his exit was because he was cramping up and he did return to action. It is time for Sanders to carry the load down the stretch of the season.

The Eagles introduced a player named Boston Scott to the NFL and he made an immediate impact. We will see more of Scott this season but Sanders will be the primary ball carrier. The Redskins are near the bottom of the league in rush defense. They are allowing 134.8 yards per game on the ground.

When these teams met in Week 1, it was the deep passing attack of the Eagles that buried the Redskins, specifically Desean Jackson. This time around, the Eagles will have to use a different game plan. They do not have the weapons on the outside to dominate the game. Philadelphia erased a 17-3 halftime deficit against the Giants using the screen game.

Sanders is a capable pass catcher out of the backfield and the Redskins have struggled all season covering a screen pass. This will be a game where the Eagles run the ball at a high rate and use the short pass game to try and wear down the defense in D.C. Sanders will be the x-factor in this game. The last thing the Eagles want is their season to end at the hands of the Redskins.
