There is no harder team in the league to figure out than the Houston Texans. Their inconsistent play makes the team a week-to-week project. This was extremely present during their Week 14 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

In Week 13 on Sunday Night Football, the world watched as the Texans shredded the New England Patriots to get to 8-4. Hope was brought back to Houston with the Broncos coming to town the following week. Well, it was the classic big game letdown. The Texans, still hungover from their win over New England, fell behind the Broncos 31-3 and were torn apart by rookie Drew Lock.

Deshaun Watson finished 28-for-50 for 292 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in the loss. That is after a three-touchdown performance against the Patriots. Watson has been considered by many to be one of the top quarterbacks in the league and a perennial MVP candidate. That is wildly premature and it's time to pump the brakes. Watson's inconsistent play has reared its head over the last two seasons that he has been healthy.

When Houston takes the field this week against the Tennessee Titans, they will need the good version of their quarterback.

Which Watson Will Show Up?

Watson's numbers look good as a whole, but his good games have been spread out. He delivered a five-touchdown performance against the Atlanta Falcons and followed it up with four picks over his next two games. Watson and the Texans laid a huge egg against the Baltimore Ravens. These next three games will determine the Texans' season.

Right now, the Titans and Texans are tied at 8-5 atop the AFC South. These two teams will meet twice over the final three weeks of the season. It is pretty simple for both sides — win. The Titans have been rejuvenated by the play of Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry, but the Texans are still the better team on paper. It is time to start showing some consistency.

Despite what Tannehill is doing in Tennessee, Watson is the better quarterback. He has DeAndre Hopkins on the outside along with a solid defense. Houston is a team that expects to be in the playoffs. They are frequently viewed as the best team in their division heading into the season. They will have a chance to show that they are with two games coming up against the Titans.

It is time for Watson to take over control of the team and show that he can be a winner in the NFL.
