Free agent small forward Markieff Morris is signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Morris began this season with the Washington Wizards. Washington traded him to the New Orleans Pelicans at the trade deadline, and then New Orleans waived him.

Markieff Morris has been dealing with a lingering neck injury all season, but he was cleared to play basketball again after meeting with a neck specialist in Los Angeles last week, and is now joining a Thunder squad which has championship aspirations.

With the Wizards, Markieff Morris averaged 11.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 78.1 percent from the free-throw line. The veteran swingman can score off the dribble whenever he wants and will space the floor very well for the Thunder.

Morris also drew interest from the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors. The Thunder are 37-19 on the season, good for third place in the Western Conference standings. OKC now has Markieff Morris and Paul George at the swingman position. The rich really do get richer.

Morris has career averages of 11.8 points per game in 555 NBA games. He is represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.
