All-Star forward Paul George has just completed his first season with the Oklahoma City Thunder that resulted in a first-round exit of the playoffs.

Earlier this week, the 28-year-old made the decision to undergo a scope on his left knee that will take approximately six-to-eight weeks for him to fully recover. According to Fred Katz of The Norman Transcript, George has also had a bursa sac drained in his elbow.

The decision to have this work done on him at this point helps take care of two issues at once that should both be non-factors after the next couple of months. The timetable for that should allow for him to be able to then turn his attention toward his upcoming free agency decision where he will have the opportunity to hit the open market for the first time in his career.

George is coming off yet another highly productive campaign where he averaged 21.9 points on 43 percent shooting from the field and 40.1 percent from beyond the arc along with 5.7 rebounds, and a career-best 2.0 steals per game. He is expected to enter the free agent market will he be one of the most sought out players that could have a few intriguing landing spots in front of him.

There has been the expectation that he could bolt from the Thunder after just one season to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency as his interest that has been documented dating back to last year. Meanwhile, there have been reports that it wouldn't be surprising to see him decide to remain in Oklahoma City on a new deal. George will have plenty of options in front of him in the coming months, and taking care of these physical issues allows for him to head into his next situation with a full bill of health.
