The Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Dallas Mavericks Saturday night, and star point guard Russell Westbrook will miss his third straight game.

Westbrook suffered a left ankle sprain against the New Orleans Pelicans on Nov. 5.

In seven games this season, Russell Westbrook is averaging 24.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists while shooting 48.9 percent from the field. The explosive guard is shooting a woeful 10.0 percent from beyond the arc and 63.5 percent from the free-throw line. Expect those numbers, though, to increase as the season moves along.

The Thunder started the season 0-4, but they have rebounded nicely. OKC is currently on a seven-game winning streak. They have defeated the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans, Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets.

OKC acquired guard Dennis Schroder from the Atlanta Hawks in the Carmelo Anthony trade over the summer. Unlike past seasons, the Thunder now have a high-level backup point guard who can run the team efficiently when Westbrook is out.

Schroder is averaging 16.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game with OKC in 11 games and shooting 42.9 percent from the floor, 28.2 percent from the 3-point line and 80.0 percent from the charity stripe. He has scored 28 points and 14 points, respectively, in the last two games.

Thunder head coach Billy Donovan doesn't know when Russell Westbrook will return to the lineup. Since it's so early in the season, there's no point to rush the explosive guard back.
