In an interview today with Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript, Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams opened up about his matchup with New Orleans Pelicans' superstar big men in Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. The interview happened prior to the game between the two teams.

Frankly, Adams admitted that he wasn't too excited about having to defend the two of them around the perimeter.

“No,” Adams said with a laugh. “Not at all. It's a lot more difficult. I know they play along the perimeter. So I guess it's just a bunch of challenges, you know what I mean? In the old days, it's pretty simple: post-ups is all they do. Now, you're doing the hardest thing in basketball on defense which is closeouts. Closeouts are by far the most difficult thing to do. If you can avoid those, that would be great but it's part of the game now more so than before.”

Despite their slow start to the season as a team for the Thunder, Steven Adams has put up some pretty solid numbers heading into tonight's game against the Pelicans. In 12 starts for Oklahoma City, Adams is currently averaging 12.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.3 blocked shots per game in 31 minutes of action.

Unfortunately for the Thunder, they blew yet another sizeable lead and fell to the Pelicans, 114-107, on Monday night after they led by as many as 14 points in the first half.
