The ever-mercurial Russell Westbrook was back in his bag early against the Portland Trail Blazers tonight. Early in the 1st quarter, Russ splashed a mid-range jumper in the grill of Damian Lillard. Always ready with a celebration, Russ pulled out his favorite taunt after drilling the shot on Dame:

That’s right, it was an early “rock the baby” appearance for Brodie, who never shies away from making his foes look foolish.

The 30-year-old hasn’t had as much to be excited about this season, however. He is having the worst true shooting percentage since his sophomore season in 2009-10 at 49.5 percent per Basketball Reference. Beyond that, his 27.4 three-point percentage and 42.4 percent field goal percentage are both the lowest of his career since, once again, the 2009-10 season.

Though the 2017 Most Valuable Player is clearly the triple-double master in modern NBA history as well as the season’s leader with 25 this year, his lack of efficiency this season has been a concern for his fans as well as Oklahoma City Thunder fans in general.

Despite being only one of 3 players this year with double-digit triple-double total (Nikola Jokic with 12 and Ben Simmons with 10 are the only others), he is experiencing something of a down year in 2018-19.

However, he’s helping a strong OKC team in a tight Western Conference right now, and with his famed “rock the baby” taunt, Russ always tends to get the last laugh.
