With training camps starting in less than a week, teams have filled up their rosters and are ready to begin their preparations for next season’s grind. However, that is not the case for the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are still awaiting the decision of Dante Cunningham if he will accept their offer to join them.

Jerry Zgoda of The Star Tribune recently reported that the 30-year-old will make up his mind in the next 24-48 hours, to give the team a few more days to finalize their lineup. The New Orleans Pelicans are still in the mix to retain his services, and also has the ability to offer him more money.

Despite all the signings already made by the Wolves this summer, they are still looking to add more talent, to give them the best chance of contending in the coming season. Just last week, they bolstered their wing rotation with the re-signing of Shabazz Muhammad, but they still want to have more depth in the forward spots with the possible addition of Cunningham.

The Villanova product is an eight-year NBA veteran who has suited up for five different franchises. He has spent the last three years with the Pelicans, where he received significant playing time despite coming off the bench.

Cunningham owns decent career averages of 6.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per game, and is best known for his defense and timely outside shooting, which will be very beneficial for the new-look Timberwolves squad, who are hopeful that they can make a lot of noise in the West this coming season.
