Everyone knows Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau eats, sleeps and breathes basketball, and point guard Derrick Rose has a story that shows just how much of a basketball fanatic Thibodeau is.
When Derrick Rose was with the Chicago Bulls, the former league MVP would go to the gym sometimes during the summer at three or four in the morning with his friends to get some shots up. Rose is from Chicago and spent his summers at home.
Rose and his friends used to think that the gym would be empty since it was early in the morning and most people were sleeping, but that wasn't the case. According to D-Rose, Tom Thibodeau would be upstairs at the gym in the early mornings watching film. That's when Rose found out just how obsessed Thibodeau was with basketball and winning.

“I remember me and my friends in the summertime being in Chicago we used to go back up to the gym at 3 or 4 in the morning to shoot and he would be up there,” Rose recalled. “That was kind of crazy. That’s when I knew he was kind of obsessed with the game. The way that he used to talk to me, it kind of used to blow me away a little bit because he used to talk in a way in which he made it seem like his words used to come out as if he loved the game more than you do. I’m a player, so it was kind of weird, but after seeing his hard work and how much he was dedicated to the game, I get where he was coming from.”
Tom Thibodeau isn't married and doesn't have any kids. When he was fired from the Bulls in the summer of 2015, he spent his year off visiting other teams and watching film on his own.
Thibs is really a simple guy who just loves basketball and winning games.
