Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler, who is currently sidelined with an injury is itching to get back on the court just in time for the playoffs.

As reported by Kyle Ratke of NBA.com, Butler was asked if he can return come playoff time, to which he responded:

“Oh yeah, oh yeah, I plan on doing it,” Butler said when asked on if he can return by the playoffs. “I can’t give you the exact date, but I want to come back and I want to help. I want to play.”

In a non-contact play, Butler tore his meniscus on Feb. 23 against the Houston Rockets. He had to be helped off the court and two days later, Butler underwent surgery. There is no definite date for his return. But the 28-year-old's timeline for the injury is six to eight weeks.

He says that he's not rushing. But once the doctors give the green light, Butler will suit up with no hesitation.

“I’m not one to sit out if I can play. I want to compete, I want to show that I’m one of the better players to do this, I’m here for a reason, I want to help my team win, all that good stuff. But I can’t come back early cause something worse might happen,” Butler said.

Butler is currently in his first season with the Timberwolves, after being traded from Chicago. He's logging in 22.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists, all under a whopping 37.1 minutes per contest.

He has guided the Wolves to a decent 40-30 record, fifth place in the West. However, since being sidelined, the Wolves are 4-4.
