Boxing great Manny Pacquiao has invited Minnesota Timberwolves guard Derrick Rose to watch his next fight against American Adrien Broner. Rose has visited the Philippines multiple times before and has been friends with the Filipino slugger.

Celso Samson Jr. of Boxing News and Views has the report on Pacquaio's generous gesture to the youngest MVP in NBA history:

When boxing’s only eight-division champion climbs the ring against Adrien Broner in the new year, Pacquiao wants his buddy to witness the action live, offering two tickets through the two athletes’ mutual friend, Homer Sayson, the U.S. bureau chief of Boxing News and Views.

“Oh wow, really?” said a pleasantly surprised Rose upon hearing the invite last Monday at Staples Center where his current team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, played the Los Angeles Clippers.

“That’s amazing bro,” Rose quipped.

Rose, who garnered worldwide attention with his brilliant 50-point performance against the Utah Jazz, has been playing stellar basketball this season. The 6-foot-3 spitfire guard has stirred up quite a narrative with his play, averaging 17.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. Rose is also shooting a career-high 37 percent from beyond the arc.

The Pacquiao-Broner fight, which is set to take place on Jan. 19 in Las Vegas, is a title fight for the WBA welterweight championship. Pacquaio has earned the admiration of numerous NBA superstars in the past, including Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, and Paul Pierce.

Meanwhile, Derrick Rose and the Timberwolves will have their hands full Wednesday as they visit Staples Center for a road game against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
