The Minnesota Timberwolves lost to the Boston Celtics Saturday night at home, but Derrick Rose did all he could to try and will the team to a comeback victory.

In 29 minutes off the bench, Derrick Rose scored 26 points while shooting 11-of-18 from the field. The former MVP, who is having just an amazing season for the Timberwolves this year, was matched up with Celtics star point guard Kyrie Irving all night. Irving, who has arguably the best handles in NBA history, got put in the D-Rose blender in the fourth quarter.

Derrick Rose put the ball behind his back to get past Kyrie Irving from the left wing and then finished in heavy traffic with his left hand. It was a gorgeous move by the Chicago native, a play that drew plenty of oohhs and aahhs from the Minnesota crowd.

Derrick Rose's heroics weren't enough, as the Timberwolves lost by a final score of 118-109 to drop to 11-12 on the season. Rose's 26 points were a team-high. The 30-year-old says his goal this season is to win the Sixth Man of the Year award. Entering Saturday, Rose was averaging 19.0 points per game. Safe to say he's in the conversation for the award.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Timberwolves. Minnesota will try and get back in the win column on Monday when they host James Harden and the Houston Rockets.
