Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota returned to the practice field Wednesday which is a good sign for the AFC South team.

Alhough listed as limited, it appears Mariota's recovery is taking progress lately.

“I think that we’ll see on Friday as he comes back out,” Vrabel said of Mariota per Jim Wyatt of TitansOnline.com. “We’ll have to throw the football tomorrow; I don’t think we threw the ball much today.”

Mariota was knocked out of the Titans' game against the Indianapolis Colts, Sunday after being sacked by defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis with 16 seconds left before halftime.

He repeatedly took a beating from the opposing defense, who brought him down four times in the first half alone.

Blaine Gabbert subbed him for the second time this season, but he could not stop the bleeding. The Colts went on to win 38-10 to claim their fourth victim in a row as they improved to 5-5.

It appeared as though he had re-injured his right elbow, but the injury report stated that Mariota suffered a neck injury.

In four years in the NFL, Mariota had a string of injuries. The 2014 Heisman Trophy winner has yet to play 16 games in a season.

Earlier this season in Week 1, he had to exit the game early after injuring his elbow in a 27-20 loss against the Miami Dolphins.

Mariota and the Titans would take on division rivals Houston Texans Monday night.  His development is currently being monitored as he's still listed as questionable.

“I am hopeful (things) are trending up,” Vrabel said of Mariota’s status.
