The Tennessee Titans are in an interesting position in the AFC South. They are coming off the top seed in the conference with high expectations once again. However, there are also some question marks surrounding the team, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. That, of course, has a lot to do with the draft day trade of AJ Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles.

As Titans minicamp wrapped up last week, there was one player who stood out. Rookie tight end Chig Okonkwo is having a fantastic spring for Tennessee, garnering praise from Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill, as captured by Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt.

“Chig's done a great job for us,” Tannehill said. “He's made some big strides this spring. I'm proud of the way he's come in, learned what to do, and we'll continue to push him on that. But just physically, to see his size, his strength, his speed, how he's able to play through contact, he definitely gives us another weapon.”

Tennessee is certainly going to be in need of another weapon. AJ Brown was the one receiver who could stretch the field and make big plays in the passing game. Julio Jones proved to be a shell of himself and is no longer with the team. Defenses were able to stack the box and slow down Derrick Henry. The Cincinnati Bengals bottled him up in the Titans AFC Divisional Round loss.

Okonkwo appears to have the size and skill set to make him a standout player in the NFL. He's 6′ 3”, 238 pounds and once ran a 4.44 40-yard dash in preparation for the combine. Tennessee used a fourth round pick on the Maryland standout as they are still looking to find their replacement for Jonnu Smith at tight end.
