The Tennessee Titans just want one thing in their contract talks with Derrick Henry — a little bit of common ground.

As both sides continue to negotiate a new contract that will keep Henry in Tennessee, general manager Jon Robinson opened up on what needs to happen for a deal to take place.

As mentioned during the interview, Robinson stresses Henry's importance to the team. After all, the 26-year-old running back led the NFL in both rushing yards and touchdowns last season. He not only made it to his first Pro Bowl, he was named to the All-Pro team for the first time in his career.

With that being said, Henry is essentially on a one-year deal with the Titans this season. He signed a franchise tender worth $10.2 million for 2020. However, the objective remains to lock up Henry on a long-term deal.

While Henry has yet to show any traits of being injury prone or lacking production, recent big-money deals handed to running backs may be forcing the Titans to re-think Henry's value.

Todd Gurley quickly fizzled with the Los Angeles Rams after receiving his $60 million contract. Meanwhile, Le'Veon Bell had a career-worst year with the New York Jets last season after he signed a $52.5 million contract.

With all of that being said, the Titans are coming off of an AFC Championship Game appearance. They took care of Ryan Tannehill with his $118 million contract this offseason, so it would only make sense to also take care of Henry.

We'll see if the Titans are able to lock up Henry long term. The success of the franchise may depend upon it.
