Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger is currently a member of the Memphis Express, a franchise that is part of the newly formed Alliance of American Football. While once again returning to the ranks of professional football, granted not at the NFL level, Mettenberger remains excited to even be able to suit up at this point in his career.

“You definitely have to be supportive of your guys. I’ve been in his shoes before and it’s not easy,” Mettenberger said over the weekend, via the league's official website. “You have to be ready to roll. The reason why I got to play is unfortunate, but I’m definitely excited to be playing again.”

Mettenberger has not played in the NFL since back in 2015-16 after originally coming off the board to the Titans in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. The veteran signal caller notably played his collegiate football for the LSU Tigers before giving the NFL a shot.

“It was business as usual for me. This is a professional sport,” Mettenberger said after his team's recent loss to the Orlando Apollos. “You have to always be ready whether you’re the backup and one play away or third string and two plays away. We’ve all been taught that from an early age.”

The 27-year-old only appeared in 14 career games during his two NFL seasons while making seven appearances in each season. Mettenberger threw for just over 2,300 yards and 12 touchdowns against 14 interceptions during his brief stint as a member of the Titans.
