Veteran quarterback Tom Brady made a huge decision when he packed his bags, left the New England Patriots, and took his talents to play for a mediocre Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad last year. Brady made sure that he'll have a familiar face alongside him on offense in Tampa by urging longtime teammate Rob Gronkowski to come out of retirement and join him in West Florida. After their Super Bowl 55 win on Sunday night, it was obvious that Gronkowski's decision to hit the field again was the right.

The veteran tight end previously played together with Brady in Foxborough from 2010 to 2018. The duo emerged victorious in three title games together, namely Super Bowl 49, 51, and 53. Gronkowski also notched a bevy of individual milestones as he snagged five Pro Bowl appearances and four First-team All-Pro selections during his days with the Patriots.

However, he prematurely ended his career back in March of 2019 due to concerns about the injuries that he sustained all throughout his playing years. During his year-long break, Rob Gronkowski ventured into different fields and appeared in a handful of shows and commercial endorsements. He also made a stint in Wrestlemania 36 as a guest host and was eventually named the WWE 24/7 Champion a day later.

In the midst of the offseason, Brady was able to convince Gronkowski to lace his cleats once again and get back on the field for the first time since the 2018 NFL season. Despite the optimism for his return, the 31-year-old tight end didn't get to showcase his full capabilities as he never emerged as the top option on offense for the most part of the regular season and playoffs.

Apart from Gronkowski, Tom Brady also had other prolific weapons in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Leonard Fournette, and Antonio Brown to throw to. Nonetheless, the quarterback still made sure that Gronkowski received his touches from time to time.

In Super Bowl 55, the Arizona alum finally got to extend a huge contribution for the Bucs on the field. He was the recipient of an eight-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady in the closing moments of the first quarter to lift his team to a 7-3 lead. The veteran playmaker located Gronkowski once again midway through the second period, this time on a 17-yard pass for a touchdown to boost the Buccaneers to a 14-3 lead.

Fournette and Brown also contributed to the offense as the Buccaneers cruised to a 31-9 victory. Their latest Super Bowl win gave Gronkowski the fourth ring of his 10-year career while Brady received his seventh title along with his fifth Super Bowl MVP plum on Sunday night.

The 2020 NFL season certainly turned out to be a success for Rob Gronkowski. His efforts to come out of retirement was rewarded as his squad emerged as Super Bowl Champions while having a shortened offseason along with welcoming a bevy of new faces on the team.

After a successful debut campaign in Tampa Bay, Rob Gronkowski and the rest of the Buccaneers will definitely be eager to run it back and make more history in the years to come.
