New York Knicks fans are praying Tom Thibodeau can turn the franchise around and help the team make the playoffs next season for the first time since 2012-13.

Knicks supporters are viewing Thibodeau as the savior of the team, a term which made Thibs laugh during an interview with Steve Serby of the New York Post.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be able there. … I don’t fool myself into not thinking that it’s gonna require a lot of work … just come in and give everything we have every day,” Tom Thibodeau, new head coach of the Knicks, said.

“Do it for each other, do it for the city, do it for the team, put the team first. … And if we keep doing the right things, the results will take care of themselves. But I think we all know what it will take to get this done, and we believe that we can make this right.”

With the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves, Thibodeau racked up a regular-season record of 352-246. He also went 24-32 in the playoffs and won the 2011 Coach of the Year Award after guiding the Bulls to the best record in the NBA during the 2010-11 regular season and helping Derrick Rose win the MVP Award.

The Knicks have been a joke under the ownership of James Dolan for the past few years. New York fans are hopeful that Dolan will stay out of Leon Rose and Thibodeau's way this time and let them run the franchise.

Thibodeau has a lot of work to do to turn this Knicks team into a winner again. However, his track record and love of the game shows he's ready for the challenge.
