The moment when Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp dropped out of Central Methodist University, where he played for the University's football team as a running back, was the moment that truly defined his career. It proved that Tyler1 was a risktaker, a personality that he embodied in his entire streaming career. He didn't care if people loathed him for being the god of toxicity in the League of Legends scene. He is afterall Tyler mothereffin' 1. Even when he was banned by Riot Games for the extremity of his behavior, Tyler1 didn't crumble and fold. He accepted the adversities that lie ahead proving his status as Twitch's number one alpha male.

When he started creating his YouTube channel in 2014, he mentioned his aspirations of being a huge sensation in the online community. Two years later he fulfilled his dreams as he garnered a cult following. By 2020, Tyler1 has reached 3.8 million followers on Twitch and 2.5 million subscribers on YouTube. A month ago, one of the most dominant esports teams in the LoL scene, T1 (previously known as SKT T1), acquired Tyler1 to serve as the organization's content creator.

When Tyler1 last checked his estimated networth back in 2018, it indicated that he earned at around $300K from content creation. Tyler1 described his value as slanderous in one of his streams, drawing laughter from the community. 2018 was likewise a landmark year as he announced on Twitter that he was able to accumulate 30,000 subscribers from Twitch, where he approximately earns around $75,000 per month ($900,000/year). Based on these computations, Tyler1 has the right to feel insulted from the $300K estimates imposed on him.

By 2020, his estimated networth quadrupled to $1 million as his following in both Twitch and YouTube experienced an upsurge. He recently glanced upon it in his streams where he reacted with disbelief, even mocking the writer of the article noting the inaccuracies regarding the games he played. It didn't matter if he experienced a 15,000 subscriber decline due to his inactiveness at one point in 2020, as he could easily regain those numbers given his talent.

The massive following he accumulated on both Twitch and YouTube meant that Tyler1 doesn't just only earn from his subscriber count as he likewise has control on advertisements featured on his streams. The viewership in his YouTube channel range from 500K to 3million and there are cases when he would go beyond that mark, revealing a constant overflow of income.

This ultimately begs the question, how does Tyler1 reach this stage in his career?

TOXICITY

One of his most adored and most hated features is his toxicity. This is what makes him stand out among the other League of Legends content creators as Tyler1 isn't afraid to venture into the dark path of gaming. The constant trolling and his willingness to throw games by lunging towards the middle lane and intentionally feeding is what entertains the audience and attracts other individuals to analyze his streams. Some of his antics have raised the eyebrows of other influential members from the community which included shoutcaster and Riot employee David “Phreak” Turley and professional player Yiliang Peter “Doublelift” Peng.

Even his choice of character emphasizes his toxicity as he loves to spam Draven, a character that perfectly suited Tyler1 since both are known for their egotistical and arrogant behavior.

Oh and didn't I mention that Tyler1 also has an inner beast in him? Surprisingly, his headset and microphone could stand the course of time given his constant screaming which can be heard around the world.

Given his streaming persona, Riot games immediately made their decision to permanently ban Tyler1 from playing the game in 2016, which further enhanced his persona as Tyler1's flexibility allowed him to stay on course. Surprisingly, his fanbase increased after that notorious incident. Riot later unbanned him in 2018, after witnessing his willingness to reform as well as the numbers displayed from his amateur LoL tournament which earned a million viewers.

Tyler1 is always adamant to mention in his streams that he was never toxic in his life, drawing chuckles from the sarcasm displayed.

FLUIDITY

When Tyler1 paid tribute to American painter and television host Bob Ross, by donning his blue colored polo shirt, his afro, and his beard mixed with Tyler1's signature emphasis on his biceps revealed the other side of his personality. Tyler1 is willing to try new absurd ideas and this was highly evident during those down moments when Riot Games considered him to be public enemy number one. The comedy displayed from his failed attempt to replicate the masterpiece of Bob Ross revealed that contrary to popular belief, that Tyler1 is more than just a one-trick Draven pony.

He tried other methods which included showing of his magic tricks that would make Houdini laugh in his own grave. He also has his own cooking show, making him an ideal candidate for Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.

But it's his awkward backflips that would make you spill your water straight to your keyboard with no regard for the amount of repair work needed. Given his masculinity, his charismatic persona, and his obsession for perfecting his backflips, one may argue that Tyler1 is gearing his way to a Wrestlemania blockbuster.
