After some time out rehabilitating from knee surgery, the New Orleans Pelicans combo-guard Tyreke Evans is optimistic that he will be able to return to the court by the middle of December.

Following an operation in February, it was assumed that the 27-year-old would not be available at the beginning of the forthcoming 2016-2017 season and that has now been confirmed.

When speaking to Pelicans.com’s Jim Eichenhofer, Evans made it clear that his aim is to be playing again before the holiday season.

“I'm trying to push for December, maybe the middle of December, to see how I’m feeling,” Evans said. “Right now I'm just putting up shots, rehabbing, trying to get the strength back in my quads. My knee actually feels pretty good, and I'm not feeling the pain I was before, which is a good thing.”

Evans also revealed that a blood clot in his made the process even more difficult, per Oleh Kosel of The Bird Writes.

During the 2015-2016 season, Evans only featured in 25 games, averaging 15.2 points on 38.8 percent 3-point shooting. His absence left New Orleans with a lack of scoring support for their franchise player Anthony Davis.

Pelicans fans will be pleased if Evans’ time-frame for recovery is truthful and relieved when he returns to add a scoring punch to the team.
