When Tyreke Evans entered the NBA, he immediately sent waves across the league as his all-around display of talent screamed immense potential. He even won Rookie of the Year after averaging 20.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.5 steals for the Sacramento Kings.

That year would be Evans’ best season as the creative guard saw a downward spiral in his production – no thanks to an unstable environment and a few injuries.

Ever since being a member of the New Orleans Pelicans, Evans has been expected to become a major piece in taking the franchise to new heights. However, injuries have prevented him and the team to reach their ceiling.

The new season is supposed to bring about a breathe of fresh air for most, but not for Evans. According to coach Alvin Gentry, during his guesting at The Lowe Post by ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the seven-year veteran will be watching from the sidelines when the regular season wars begin.

“He won't be ready for the start of the season. He's in a rehab situation. So, I think for us, we've just got to move forward with our season. And then if he comes back and he's able to help us, I think that just adds icing to the cake.”

This spells big concern for the team as last season, Evans suited up in only 25 games until being shut down towards the end of the campaign. Will the Pelicans remain patient with Tyreke Evans? Afterall, they did draft a scorer in Buddy Hield.
