NBA basketball is back and with its highlights also come weird basketball plays. Take this moment from Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma and Sacramento Kings big man Marvin Bagley III for instance.

As Bagley spun off the defense of LeBron James, the second overall pick of this year's draft went up for uncontested bunny inside the paint — or so he thought. Behind him, Kuzma was able to recover and provide help defense to block Bagley's shot.

Unfortunately, Kuzma was whistled for a foul. To compound his woes, his swat of Bagley's shot actually had the ball going in through the hoop. Now that's a double blackeye for Kuzma.

But despite the tough luck, Kuzma's Lakers teammates are most probably lauding his effort in that particular play. It was an extremely rare mishap that should not deter any player from going full force on defense.

Kuzma's aggressiveness doesn't come as a surprise to his teammates anyway. He's regarded as one of the hardest workers in the team with Magic Johnson, at one point, even suggesting that he was LeBron lite during practices.

This is the kind of effort that any coach wants to see from his players and Kuzma has taken it upon himself in leading by example to his fellow youngsters wearing purple and gold.
