Terrence Ferguson provided the highlight of a barren pre-All-Star slate of games on Thursday night despite not being unable to catch and finish an alley-oop pass from Russell Westbrook. Just imagine, then, if the Oklahoma City Thunder wing dunked the ball with his normal blend of aerial grace and power. One problem: Ferguson hit his head on the backboard in midair, perhaps rendering a slam impossible to begin with.

Wow. Reminder: Ferguson stands just 6-foot-6.

It's been a breakout season for the 2017 first-round pick, who looked like a fish out of water for the most part as a rookie. Starting every game in the backcourt next to Russell Westbrook, he's averaging just 6.8 points per game and doesn't contribute much to the box score elsewhere. But those pedestrian numbers fail to convey both the improvement he's made as a sophomore and his all-around worth to the Thunder.

Ferguson is shooting 38.7 percent from three this season, up from 33.3 percent a year ago, key for a team that lacks the floor space of other top contenders. He also routinely guards the opposition's primary ball handler, freeing up Westbrook and Defensive Player of the Year candidate Paul George to wreak havoc in passing lanes as help defenders. Ferguson, obviously, is an elite run-jump athlete, too, making him a perfect fit Oklahoma City's go-go attack.

Nevertheless, it would have been pretty, pretty awesome if he was able to finish this lob despite hitting his head on the underside of the backboard.
