In the last couple of years, the Minnesota Vikings have strung together quite a formidable roster that has a plethora of talent on both sides of the football. This has come through their continued success in finding high-impact players through the draft that have put a bright future ahead of the franchise.

As Field Yates of ESPN points out, the Vikings have several of their core players under contract through at least the next couple of seasons.

The Vikings have moved methodically over the few offseasons building a roster that has a strong blend of proven and young talent that has helped put the franchise in Super Bowl contention. The front office has operated quickly smoothly with inking their rising star players to deals that will keep them in the fold for the long haul with the latest being promising defensive end Danielle Hunter to a five-year, $72 million deal on Wednesday.

The next player on the docket for Minnesota to ink to a long-term deal is Pro Bowl outside linebacker Anthony Barr, who is currently in the fifth-year option of his rookie deal worth $12.3 million. Barr has voice optimism about the situation along with the desire to remain with the organization for the long haul. It may just be a matter of time before things are hammered out on both sides to keep the 26-year-old.

Minnesota appears to have the pieces in place to make a serious run toward a Super Bowl this upcoming season, especially with the arrival of Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins via free agency on a three-year, $84 million deal. His addition could be the missing piece to the puzzle in helping lift the franchise past reaching the NFC Championship game for the first time in eight years. Regardless of what unfolds this upcoming season, the Vikings are in a great spot to compete for the next few years.
