First, there were 31. Then, four. Finally, reports slimmed it down to just two teams. Now, on this Tuesday, March 13, 2018, there seems to be just one.

The biggest free agent fish in the sea, quarterback Kirk Cousins, is expected to sign with the Minnesota Vikings.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Cousins' agent, Mike McCartney, has confirmed that his client is “likely” to sign on with the team from the NFC North.

Kirk Cousins is likely to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, per sources.

“No final decisions have been made,” Cousins’ agent Mike McCartney said today. “The plan is to visit Minnesota first. That’s all we can say right now.”

Shortly after that announcement came details of the new deal. Once again it was Schefter as he revealed the terms negotiated as a three-year, fully guaranteed pact between Cousins and the Vikings.

Of course, nothing is official. Cousins' camp has stressed that point as the QB has yet to visit each spot he's intending. But it does feel like Minny is the next destination for the 29-year-old signal caller.

Since the end of the 2017 season, multiple favorites have emerged for Cousins' services. First, it appeared the New York Jets and all of their cap space were the favorites. Then, John Elway's Denver Broncos seemed to have taken over the lead. The Vikings then swooped in and have remained the top choice for the last month or so.

Cousins, a product of Holland, Michigan, was drafted in the fourth round by the Washington Redskins in 2012. In 57 games started for the Skins, Cousins has put forth 16,206 yards, 99 touchdowns and 55 interceptions to go along with a stellar 65.5 completion percentage.

Stay tuned. NFL free agency officially opens on March 14 at 4 p.m. ET.
