The Minnesota Vikings made a splash with the acquisition of former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. They will be getting him at a bargain cost compared to his initial price tag.

Ngakoue was carrying a $17.7 million franchise tag that the Jaguars had placed on him this offseason prior to the trade. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, he is now slated too play out the 2020 NFL season on a one-year deal worth $12 million:

It is safe to say that the Vikings will have a chance to get plenty of bang for their buck from Ngakoue after parting ways with a 2021 second-round pick and a conditional 2022 draft pick in order to bring him to town. The fact that he was willing to take a pay cut in order to help the deal come to fruition is indicative of his desire to prove himself in Minnesota.

Despite the tumultuous end to his tenure in Jacksonville, Ngakoue took to social media to bid adieu to his former fan base. He is now hoping the change of scenery with the Vikings is just what he needs to get back to his Pro Bowl form from 2017.

Ngakoue will be tasked with filling the notable void left by defensive end Everson Griffen this offseason. A big year would allow the Vikings to use their franchise tag in order to keep him around for the 2021 season. It will be interesting to see how he fares by the time the Vikings come to town in Week 13.
