After being rumored for weeks, Warner Bros. Interactive finally unveiled the new fighting game MultiVersus.
MultiVersus is a new free-to-play platform fighter game that introduces a team-based 2 vs. 2 format. Think Super Smash Bros. but it's 2v2 mode. The game will feature characters from a wide range of IPs. So far, Warner Bros. has revealed characters from DC, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, Game of Thrones, Tom and Jerry, Adventure Time, and Steven Universe. The game will also feature at least one original character unique to the game. Many talented voice actors from the different IPs will also reprise their roles to provide the voices of the characters in the game.
While MultiVersus‘ focus will be on 2v2 gameplay, it will also feature 1v1 and a free-for-all game mode. Locations from the different IPs will be featured as arenas in the game, such as Batman's Batcave and Jake and Finn's Tree Fort, among others.
“With MultiVersus we are creating a distinct competitive game that allows us to combine a deep roster of celebrated WarnerMedia franchises for gamers to enjoy,” says Warner Bros. Games President David Haddad. “We are partnering with the talented team at Player First Games to bring together a free-to-play, online platform fighter with a wealth of iconic characters that fans know and love, from Wonder Woman and Bugs Bunny to Shaggy and Arya from Game of Thrones. And this is just the beginning, as we are excited to support upcoming seasons and ongoing game content.”
The game is now currently out for playtesting on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.
