Looks like another Super Smash Bros.-like game is in the works which feature characters from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Multiversus will be the name of the new Warner Bros. fighting game. However, NetherRealm won’t be the developers for this upcoming title, in spite of the two companies' very close working relationship.

Multiversus started out as a rumor with the leaks being posted on Reddit by a user named r/hugeleakeractually.  In this post, the leaker provided several notable pieces of information regarding Multiversus. They mentioned that the game will play like Smash Bros. with a twist of tag team action. In fact, the leaker even revealed some of the characters in the roster. Tom & Jerry, Fred Flinstone, Gandalf, Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, Batman, Harry Potter, Mad Max, and Johnny Bravo are on this list. It may be a small list at the moment, but it’s definitely a star-studded lineup.

Literally, on the very next day after the Reddit post blew up, this leak was actually confirmed on Twitter. A video game insider named Jeff Grubb confirmed that Multiversus is happening. The only thing that isn’t true is the fact that NetherRealm is developing the game according to Grubb. This may seem like a sketchy confirmation considering that Grubb isn’t really affiliated with the studio. Nevertheless, he is also known for giving out information about a game long before its official announcement.

Without a doubt, a Warner Bros. fighting game sounds very exciting. Players can finally create dream matches like “Batman vs Harry Potter” or “Tom & Jerry vs Scooby and Shaggy”. However, it’s worth noting that Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. will be their direct competitor. It’ll be difficult to live up to the crossover fighting game standards with SSBU as Multiversus’ rival. All of this remains to be seen, the best thing we can do right now is wait for official announcements.
