Golden State Warriors veteran small forward Andre Iguodala says teammate Stephen Curry “is the reason why I play basketball.”

Iguodala also jokes about superstars needing “security” from role players, but he now recognizes that he's the one protecting Curry.

Iguodala has been giving subtle hints lately that he might retire from the NBA soon.

The 2014 Finals MVP has one year left on his contract with the Warriors worth $17 million. One would surmise it would be difficult for Iggy to turn that money down, but if his body says it's time, as we all know — father time is undefeated.

Iguodala, Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are looking to win their fourth title together on the Warriors. Iguodala is averaging 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists in the 2019 playoffs and has been an important cog with star small forward Kevin Durant still recovering from a right calf strain.

Iguodala and Curry clearly have a close bond. It's believed Curry helped recruit Iguodala to Golden State back in the summer of 2013. Should the Warriors defeat the Toronto Raptors in the Finals, the Dubs will capture their third straight ring and fourth championship in five years. This franchise, led by Curry, is the new dynasty of the NBA.
