Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins believes he could play in an NBA game today if his life depended on it.

Cousins, who is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered last season with the New Orleans Pelicans, went through some full contact five-on-five full court play on Monday in practice in Santa Cruz with the Warriors’ G-League team.

Cousins spoke to the media after the practice and gave an update on his health, via Logan Murdock of the Mercury News/Bay Area News Group.

Cousins shocked the NBA world in July when he signed a one-year, $5.3 million free agent deal with Golden State. The All-Star big man was averaging 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds per game in 48 games while shooting 47.0 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from beyond the arc with the Pelicans last year and looking like he was on his way to a major payday in the summertime.

Unfortunately, the superstar big man tore his Achilles in January against the Houston Rockets.

The Warriors are 18-9 on the season, first place in the Western Conference. To be frank, the team doesn't even need the services of Cousins right now because they are already so lethal.

Once he's ready to play, the Warriors will have five All-Stars in their starting lineup in point guard Stephen Curry, shooting guard Klay Thompson, small forward Kevin Durant, power forward Draymond Green and the aforementioned Cousins.
