DeMarcus Cousins has continued to shoot around and ramp up the intensity of his workouts, holding out hope for a potential appearance in the NBA Finals should the Golden State Warriors reach them for a fifth straight season, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Cousins has been out of action since the opening minutes of Game 2 of the Warriors' first-round matchup against the LA Clippers.

The big man, who was coming off a season-long Achilles injury, chased after a loose ball and tore his left quadriceps, forcing him out of action.

While the expectation was that his season had come to an end, there was still a faint glimmer of hope for the 6-foot-11 big man, who had just played his first-ever playoff game.

Head coach Steve Kerr initially said he would likely be out for the rest of the postseason, noting it's unlikely he would progress through the rehabilitation to appear again, but Kerr said over the weekend there's still a chance for a return.

Cousins has been progressing nicely since suffering this devastating injury, holding out hope for a late return at some point during The Finals, if the Warriors can continue their playoff run until June:

Cousins has been doing one-on-one court work with the Warriors training staff and looks spry of foot, though his incorporation will largely hinge in his conditioning and getting up to speed with the pace and intensity of the playoffs.

If he's able to appear, Steve Kerr will have yet another adjustment to make, likely a vital one — considering that a potential three-peat is at stake if Cousins can't perform as expected if given the chance.
