It has been more than two weeks since the Golden State Warriors landed All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins on a one-year, $5.3 million that has brought more excitement and buzz around the defending champions.

With Cousins still recovering from a torn Achilles tendon, there is still some uncertainty around when he will return to the court in the 2018-19 season that has put his role with the team up in the air. According to Anthony Slater of Atheltic, Cousins stated that he was open to possibly come off the bench if need be.

This possible change in his role could be beneficial to him excelling in his new surroundings as the leading offensive factor for that until alongside Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livington. There will be more chance for him to make a bigger impact than with the starting lineup that includes four All-Stars with three of them in Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson being the primary offensive contributors while Draymond Green picking his spots to score.

When healthy, Cousins has proven to be one of the most talented offensive players in the league as he has shown to be one of the best all-around scorers. He has shown that he can find his own shot while stretching his range out from beyond the 3-point line. Prior to his Achilles tendon injury, Cousins was on pace for possibly his most productive campaign of his career averaging 25.2 points and a career-high 12.9 rebounds per contest.

There should be plenty of adjusting to seeing where he could fit in best with his new team as it will require him to take on a much less offensive role that could foreseeably see his production significantly dip to levels that he hasn't before in his career. With Cousins already being open to bench role, should make things much easier for him to get acclimated in Golden State.
