Golden State Warriors big man DeMarcus Cousins has a musical taste that some of his teammates simply can't understand.

While a lot of athletes listen to hard-hitting music to pump them up during workouts or before games, Cousins prefers the slow stuff, listening to artists such as Luther Vandross, Babyface and Aretha Franklin.

“Man, you don’t know if he’s getting ready to make love or preparing to shoot a basketball,” one member of the Warriors organization jokingly said, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. “It’s hard to work out when your mom’s music is on.”

But Cousins thinks it's the younger guys on the team who need to learn about music:

“It’s always the young guys on the team who complain,” Cousins said. “I’m like, ‘Bro, is this all y’all listen to?’ They’re listening to ‘Mo Bamba’ [song] and all this other [expletive]. I need to slow it down with some ’80s and ’90s music. That’s how I get down.”

Cousins made his Warriors debut on Friday night, finishing with an impressive 14 points, six rebounds and three assists over 15 minutes while making five of his 11 shots and burying three three-pointers in a win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Clearly, the 28-year-old still had some rust, as he fouled out in his limited time on the floor, but he didn't seem to have any issues assimilating himself into Golden State's offense, which many assumed would be a problem.

The Warriors will have a couple of days off before they head on the road to take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night.
