After being ruled out for the entirety of the Golden State Warriors' East Coast road trip, Draymond Green is expected to rejoin the starting lineup early next week, according to Mark Medina of the San Jose Mercury News.
Head coach Steve Kerr said that the team expects Green to return for Monday’s home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves or Wednesday’s runback against the Toronto Raptors.
Draymond Green spent the end of Wednesday's morning shootaround receiving treatment on his injured toe and rode on a stationary bike during the pre-game preparations.
Kerr said the All-Star forward “had another good day” on Wednesday and is “really making strides” after missing 12 of the past 14 games.
His recovery would put the Warriors at near-full strength, with Golden State getting back Stephen Curry last week and Alfonzo McKinnie on Wednesday, as he played 13 minutes off the bench against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“We’re excited about his progress,” Kerr said. “Hopefully it continues the next few days.”
“He’s getting live action now. He’ll probably get some live action tomorrow. We may not have a heavy practice. But he could get some scrimmaging in with the other guys and coaches.”
Draymond Green has been off to a rough start this season in the scoring department, putting up only 6.9 points per game and shooting a phantasmagoric 22.2 percent from deep — the worst mark since his rookie year in the league.
