For Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob, both Andrew Wiggins and D'Angelo Russell are excellent ballers but the former is a better fit for the team.

The Warriors were one of the teams who sealed a blockbuster trade at the deadline. The deal confirmed the earlier hunches that the Warriors will eventually trade Russell for some assets. Still, Lacob believes that the trade was beneficial for both parties.

“Anybody who can’t see that this is a great deal for us, I don’t know what they’re thinking,” Lacob said, per Tim Kawakami of The Athletic. “You can sit and talk about what his salary is, but (Wiggins) had the same salary as D-Lo. They’re both good players. They’re different players. You can question whether this is a better fit; we think it is, as much as I liked D-Lo. He’s a really good player. And I think it’s good for him, too. So it’s a fair, good thing for both teams.”

When Russell was sent to the Warriors via sign-and-trade, analysts quickly questioned his fit with the team. They firmly believed that the former second overall pick will have a hard time meshing once Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson return from injury. Russell has been slowly evolving into a traditional point guard which is not so much in line with Warriors head coach Steve Kerr's positionless system.

Wiggins, meanwhile, is seemingly undergoing a resurgence following a few lackluster seasons. His playstyle which involves aggressive drives to the hoop, perimeter shots, and occasional 3-pointers seem to be a perfect fit for the Warriors' fluid offense.
