The Golden State Warriors still consider the Boston Celtics their greatest threat to a three-peat this season, claiming their sheer quality of assets are what could make them so tough to beat.

Backup point guard Shaun Livingston was only the latest of many to allude to president Danny Ainge's brilliance/thievery in the NBA Draft, which has allowed him to bolster this team with quality players and plenty of depth.

“They’ve got horses,” Livingston said, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “Danny Ainge has done an incredible job robbing certain teams of assets and then turning those assets into good players. They’ve always played us well. Every time. Every single time. We’ve never blown them out since I’ve been here.”

Yet their strong depth and roster construction is only as strong as their leadership, boasting a proven champion with plenty of postseason mettle to his name in Kyrie Irving.

“One of the best scorers in the league and a bunch of great players around him,” Thompson said of Irving. “They don’t have the record they want, but they’re still talented. Still got a bunch of guys who have done great things in the playoffs.”

The Celtics came only a game shy of reaching the NBA Finals without Kyrie Irving or Gordon Hayward in their lineup, even missing a key asset in Marcus Smart through the early stretch.

While Boston currently has most of its players healthy, they have just begun to hit their stride, just like the Warriors, hoping to peak at the right time and carve out a top seed before the playoffs get started.
