Stephen Curry entered the Golden State Warriors' home game against the Washington Wizards like a house on fire and he ended the night with an even bigger flame.
Before tipoff, the two-time Most Valuable Player was averaging 30.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game on a crisp 52 percent shooting from the field and 46 percent from long distance.
As the game went on, though, Curry played like a man possessed as he erupted for 31 points in the first half, followed up by 20 points in the third quarter. The Warriors' superstar shooting guard shot the ball extremely well in 31 minutes — 15-of-24 from the field, 11-of-16 from downtown, and 10-of-10 from the charity stripe.
The Warriors built a lead comfortable enough to give Stephen Curry the night off after the third quarter. As such, he concluded the night just three points shy of tying his career high and two 3-pointers short of equalling the NBA record he had set in 2016.
Golde State pummelled the Wizards to the tune of 144-122. Curry had ample support from Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson who scored 30 and 19 points, respectively.
With this type of performance, Curry is putting the league on notice on what could potentially be another MVP-type of a season. If Curry's words hold true about his prime years, Warriors fans have six or seven more years enjoying this type of play from the baby-faced assassin.
Stephen Curry now owns the league's top individual scoring output in a game for the young 2018-19 season.
