Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has taken James Wiseman under his wing all throughout his first season in the league. The two-time NBA MVP knows the occasional struggles that a rookie goes through and hopes to impart his own experiences to guide the younger players on the team.

During a postgame interview on Monday night, Curry was critical of Wiseman's performance and told how he can further improve after he failed to make his presence felt against a veteran-laden team in the Los Angeles Lakers, via Anthony Slater.

Curry also shared that he used to be benched for point guard Acie Law in the early stages of his career. The former NBA player had a short stint in the Bay Area back in 2009 during his third season in the league. He eventually bounced to three different teams in a single season and found his way back to the Warriors' camp in 2010 and stayed until 2011.

During Curry's sophomore season in the league, he recorded norms of 18.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.8 assists through 74 games played. Meanwhile, Law tallied averages of 5.1 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 40 appearances for the Warriors.

The team's game against the Lakers on Monday night certainly proved to be a learning experience for Wiseman. He was only limited to four points and three rebounds in 12 minutes of action against a tough matchup in Anthony Davis. Nonetheless, his veteran teammates still managed to pick up the slack and led the team to a come-from-behind victory.

Curry topped the team with 26 points and seven assists while Kelly Oubre added 23 points and four assists of his own en route to a 115-113 win. The Warriors improved to a 7-6 record while the Lakers slipped to an 11-4 win-loss tally.

The team hopes James Wiseman can quickly mature and elevate his game as they will be needing his production if they want to win more contests as the season progresses. The Warriors will hope to keep their momentum going as they host the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 20.
