Stephen Curry may be playing for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA, but his football allegiance is not found in the Bay Area. Rather, it’s in Charlotte, as he’s been a lifelong fan of the Carolina Panthers, who calls the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte their home.

The Panthers are at home this Friday night, playing the visiting Miami Dolphins in Week 2 of the NFL preseason, but unlike his mother, Sonya, and sister, Sydel, Stephen Curry is not present at the stadium to witness Carolina play tonight. It’s something that the two-time NBA MVP is ruing, as he posted this message on Twitter for Sonya and Sydel in reply to a photo of the two having the time of their lives while watching the football game.

There’s still chance for Curry to catch the Panthers live in the preseason. Carolina will play the New England Patriots next week at home then will finish the preseason with a road date against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Aug. 30.

The Panthers finished the 2017 season with an 11-5 record, but failed to go beyond the wildcard round of the playoffs. They remain a legitimate Super Bowl contender, however, with Cam Newton under center and a stout stop unit on the other end of the field.

Carolina kicks off their 2018 NFL season on Sep. 9 at home against the Dallas Cowboys. That’s a big game the Currys should be planning to watch together.
