Stephen Curry had an outstanding 2020 – 2021 season for the Golden State Warriors. Curry averaged a career-high 32 points per game on 48.2 field goal percentage and 42.1 from three, along with 5.8 assists per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. That insane performance was the reason the Warriors didn't fall flat last season.

In an radio appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio with Frank Isola and Brian Scalabrine, Curry went and said that the hate and doubt he and the Warriors received fueled his competitive fire. (via NBC Sports Warriors)

“I mean, there was a moment at the beginning of last year, before the Portland game and the 62 [points], that I heard a lot of noise and I heard a lot of talk about who I wasn't and we [Warriors] were going to get exposed and I was going to get exposed and all that type of stuff. I definitely took pride in shutting all that up.”

There definitely was a lot of chatter that season surrounding Curry and the Warriors that season. A lot of detractors were expecting Curry to struggle without Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant to “carry” him. Instead, Curry put on a show for everyone, making sure everyone knew that he was still one of the greatest players of this generation. His production and the Warriors' reliance on him propelled him to serious MVP talks, landing in the finalists before losing to Nikola Jokic.

Despite all the talk surrounding his performance, the Warriors star doesn't let it get to him.

“I don't think you're ever going to get that love like that until it's all said and done. So it doesn't matter to me. It doesn't matter what the narrative is. I definitely did appreciate that I played extremely well and reminded everyone what I was capable of. And I'm carrying that confidence into this year.”

With Thompson returning and a revamped supporting cast around him, Stephen Curry is ready to lead the Warriors back to the Finals. You best believe he's going to relish proving the haters wrong again when he does succeed.
