With the NBA season a couple of months in, fans and analysts alike are discussing who the MVP of the season is thus far. While LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, and Joel Embiid are favorites, Kendrick Perkins believes Stephen Curry has a case for the award due to his situation with the Golden State Warriors.

During an appearance on ESPN's First Take, Perkins said that Curry should have a chance to win the NBA's MVP award due to not having a superstar next to him. Perkins explained that James has Anthony Davis on the Los Angeles Lakers, Jokic has Jamal Murray on the Denver Nuggets, and Embiid has Ben Simmons on the Philadelphia 76ers.

Even the next tier of other MVP candidates follow the same trend. Kawhi Leonard has Paul George — who is currently out with an injury — and Luka Doncic has Kristaps Porzingis. As for Curry, the All-Star point guard is currently on a roster where Draymond Green, a non-scoring threat, is likely the second-best player on the team.

Besides Green, Curry is also sharing the court with Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Juan Toscano-Anderson in the starting lineup. Despite the lack of firepower around him, Curry is presently contributing 30 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game for the Warriors.

His 30 points per game ranks as the second-best mark of his career. Even with defenses locked in on him, he continues to hit three-pointers at an efficient clip, making 43.5 percent of them this season. While many people would choose James, Jokic, Embiid, or Leonard as their MVP right now, Perkins believes Curry deserves some love too.
