Draymond Green's shooting and overall offense have been the subject of criticisms throughout the 2020-21 season, but if what Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said is true, then that problem might just be resolved soon.
Green and Kerr got some extra time together as both player and coach are part of Team USA for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. Green has been selected on the roster, while Kerr has long committed to being an assistant coach for Gregg Popovich.
According to Kerr, Green is shooting the ball really well during their practices with Team USA so far. In fact, the veteran Warriors tactician couldn't believe how well the defensive anchor is playing.
“I’m not kidding — Draymond is shooting the hell out of the ball,” Kerr said on 95.7 The Game, per NBC Sports. “Whether it’s in drills … he is playing with a ton of confidence. I think the last couple months were so good for him after what was a tough season last year.”
For what it's worth, Draymond Green's outside shooting was what Steve Kerr and general manager Bob Myers emphasized to the former Defensive Player of the Year after the Warriors' season ended in disappointment.
Myers highlighted the need for Green to become an outside threat alongside Stephen Curry and be more confident in that role. And by the looks of it, the 31-year-old is putting in the work even with Team USA.
It remains to be seen if the Warriors' small-ball center can use his shooting arsenal in a game, but fans will not have to wait for long since the Tokyo Olympics is starting soon.
