Despite the Golden State Warriors having to endure their worst start to a season in recent history, head coach Steve Kerr is still able to see the silver lining in what has been nothing less than a disaster for his team thus far.

According to the three-time champion coach, this trying season has turned into a very valuable learning experience for himself:

“I think I’ve learned how to be a better coach, honestly,” Kerr said, via Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press. “I haven’t had to coach a situation like this and it’s a good reminder that every circumstance is different, every year is different.”

That's one way of looking at it, I guess. After all, Kerr is one of the most successful coaches in the league in the past decade or so, so in this respect, losing is definitely not something he is used to.

Kerr went on to explain the difference of mentality he has had to imbibe given how his team has so quickly fallen from perpetual title challengers to literally the worst team in the league in just a matter of months. It's simply a totally different mindset:

“The last five years, we’ve been a championship contender, so it meant that I had to manage the team through the season, prepare for the playoffs and try to get guys rest when we could,” he said. “This is much more about teaching and developing young players.”

That's Kerr confirming what many have seen coming: the Warriors are no longer looking to be competitive this season in any form or manner, and have instead set their sights on their future.
