Manny Machado has been one of the most talked about players in the MLB this offseason and has had quite a few teams interested in signing him. One of those teams has been the Chicago White Sox, who are desperately looking to sign a star that can be the face of their franchise moving forward.

According to a report from Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports, Machado will be playing for the White Sox next season and should sign in the near future.

It has been a long time since the White Sox were viewed as a legitimate contender. Machado would be a big step towards getting back to that goal. They would need to make another move or two, but adding that kind of offensive weapon and name would turn things around quickly.

Last season split between the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers, Machado ended up batting .297 to go along with 37 home runs and 107 RBI's. He entered the season as a coveted free agent, but things have not moved as quickly as many had expected.

At this point in time, Machado appears to be most interested in the White Sox and New York Yankees. The Philadelphia Phillies have also been linked to him, but recent reports are suggesting that they are prioritizing Bryce Harper over Machado.

If the White Sox are able to sign Machado, it will be interesting to see how they fare in 2019. Machado is not going to be a piece that powers them to the postseason by himself, but Chicago will be a much bigger player in free agency both this offseason and in future offseason if they sign a star like Machado.

All of that being said, expect to hear more news about Machado's plans in the very near future.
