The Indianapolis Colts have had incredible luck at quarterback since 1998 when they drafted Peyton Manning. When Manning's time was up, they suffered a one win season and ended up drafting Andrew Luck in 2012. Here in 2019, their luck has changed. Luck decided to retire before this season and they turned to Jacoby Brissett.

So far, Brissett has been a decent quarterback. He has thrown for 2,245 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions this season. After a 5-2 start, the Colts have lost four of their last five. Brissett agreed to a two-year, $30 million contract extension in the offseason. Despite doing a decent job this season, there is something about Brissett that screams mediocrity. He is a quarterback who is good enough to start but will not lead a team to a championship.

This puts the Colts in a tough position. Do they draft a quarterback or don't they? It would not be smart to waste a first round pick on a quarterback, but if one is available in the second round, why not? Say Jake Fromm.

Is Fromm Next in Indy?

Fromm has played a lot of football at Georgia and has done a lot of winning. He came in and started as a true freshman and led the Bulldogs to a National Championship Game appearance. He will play in the SEC Championship Game for the third time as the quarterback in Athens. Fromm will eclipse 2,600 passing yards for the third straight season and currently has 75 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

There is no doubt that Fromm is an NFL talent. He is 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds with a decent arm that is known to be extremely accurate. Fromm's toughness stands out immediately when you watch a Georgia football game. If the Colts decide to pull the trigger on a quarterback, they could take a chance on a quarterback who played a lot of football in college and won a lot of games.

The question remains will they be in the market for a new player under center? Indianapolis has spoken out about how they feel good with Brissett. Taking Fromm is a different situation. There is no one saying that the Colts should trade up for Joe Burrow or Tua Tagovoiloa. Players like Justin Herbert and even Jalen Hurts are beginning to receiver higher rating than Fromm. His stock is falling and that could work in the Colts' favor.

Brissett has one more year on his contract and he will be the quarterback next season. It would behoove the Colts to have a player like Fromm on the sideline who could sit for a season and learn how to play the position in the NFL.
