The Denver Nuggets roster is made up of a lot of young players in the early stages of their careers. With so many you pieces, opposing general managers have kept tabs on the players that have intrigued them most.

One of them is sixth-year player Will Barton, who is transforming into one of the leagues most promising guards. He has been subject to trade rumors recently but has made it clear that if he had it his way, he would remain with the Nuggets.

“It’s tough but you hear a lot of stuff going around. I don’t pay any attention to it, I try not to let it enter my mind and enter things that I’ve got going on. I’m here, I like it here. I just try to work hard every day, perform, and just get wins for my teammates. That’s all I care about, just focusing on the Denver Nuggets.”

“They know I want to be here. It’s no secret. I want to be a part of this core that gets it right. I feel like we’re making huge strides. We’re right there, kind of fighting for that eighth seed. I feel like we’ve just gotten our team completely healthy, and I want to be part of that and they know that.”

The 25-year-old Memphis product is coming off the best season of his career and is now producing almost similar numbers from what he had a year ago. With 14.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 30.7 minutes per game, Barton ranks as the third leading scorer on Denver's roster.

More importantly, Barton has gained the trust of head coach Mike Malone, who is handing Barton more minutes than any other guard on the roster.

Despite the rumors, Barton takes it as a positive and knows that he must be doing something right to have opposing teams making calls.

“Teams calling trying to check my availability means that I’m doing something right. My body is still getting better. I feel like my game is getting better. I’m seeing progress game in and game out, getting back to my regular routine being the first one in the gym to get my rhythm. I’m feeling good.”
