Washington Wizards guard John Wall had his 2018-19 season cut short when he suffered a left Achilles tear. His injury, combined with yet another woeful Wizards season, left Washington fans hopeless yet again. However, Wall had some good news on Sunday. In an interview with Neil Dalal of  The Sports Daily, Wall said that he has been making progress in his rehab and is close to getting his leg strength back.

“Calf raises, leg press, all that type of stuff. I’m on the verge of getting my leg strength back. In the pool, swimming, stuff like that. I go step by step whatever the trainers tell me to do. After the tendon heals all the way it is all about getting my leg strength back so I can run and bend and do all those type of things.”

Unfortunately, Wall still has no idea when he is coming back. There is no timetable for his return yet, and rushing a player back from such a serious injury is never a good idea.

Before his injury, Wall was a force on the floor and one of the better guards in the league. He averaged 20.7 points and 8.7 assists in just 32 games and was one of the few players on the Wizards that could truly electrify the crowd.

Hopefully, Wall comes back full strength and have a chance to lead Washington back to relevance.
