Bradley Beal remains the face of the Washington Wizards but Montrezl Harrell is certain he is also playing a lead role in the team.

Wizards power forward Montrezl Harrell is continuing where he left off in his new team as he intends to become a reliable confidence booster in Washington.

Known for his energy inside the court, Harrell has set the record straight about the difference between him and Wizards superstar Bradley Beal in terms of leadership.

According to Harrell, Beal is the type of leader who does it through actions while he, on the other hand, imposes leadership through his “voice.”

“I tell people all the time, the guy who leads the charge in our group is Bradley Beal, but Brad’s one of those guys who kind of does it by example,” Harrell said via Ava Wallace of the Washington Post. “He’s not going to really voice it. So I want to be that one on that backstop for him to voice it because I’m not really scared of what nobody really has to say or how nobody really feel.”

Harrell has pretty much been a solid back-up his entire career in the league. In fact, he won the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award in 2019-20 with the Los Angeles Clippers. His role was even reduced when he joined the Los Angeles Lakers last season.

Now that he has found a new home with the Wizards, Harrell is not changing anything about his role.

“I want to be that back-up voice for Brad [Beal] whenever we really need it,” the 28-year-old said earlier this month via NBC Sports.
