Montrezl Harrell is playing really well for the Washington Wizards this 2021-22 campaign, averaging 18.0 points per game. It's the type of production the Los Angeles Lakers were hoping to get from him when they signed him last season, though to no avail as he often struggled with the Purple and Gold.

When asked about the secret to his success this year compared to 2020-21, Harrell took a subtle shot at the Lakers and how they utilized him. It's simple all along for Harrell: play him and you'll get the best of him. The Wizards have seen this firsthand after giving the 27-year-old playing time despite coming off the bench.

“Montrezl Harrell is on the floor, brother. That’s the biggest difference,” the Wizards big man said on his improved play, per Chase Hughes of NBC Sports.

It's not the first time Harrell has spoken out about his lack of playing time with the Lakers. In fact, it was his biggest complaint throughout the latter part of his time with the LA franchise, often criticizing Frank Vogel and Co. for his decreased role.

Last month, Harrell also shared how he felt he had the whole 2020-21 season off with the Lakers since he was barely used at all.

“I didn't really get to be utilized how I wanted to be last year. I damn near felt like I had a season off,” Harrell exclaimed.

The former Sixth Man of the Year has been critical to the Wizards6-3 start to the season. Aside from his scoring, he is also crashing the boards with 9.7 rebounds per game and defending the rim well with 1.2 blocks per contest.

Sorry, Lakers!
